Everyone is Different
It is important for you to remember that you are unique. It is also really important to remember that even though you have a disability called FASD, you also have lots of abilities. There are things that you can do, things that people admire about you and things that people love about you. You have gifts and strengths that are all your own.
FASD is different for everyone. That is why FASD is called a spectrum disorder. People affected by alcohol before they were born are affected differently just like the many colours in the spectrum of a rainbow. For example, some people may have more disabilities and more struggles. Other people have fewer disabilities and fewer struggles.
As you go through your life with FASD, do your best to remember that FASD is just one part of who you are. FASD is no one’s fault and you are your own important person with many abilities. You have a right to live a healthy, safe and happy life.
